Contact the editorial office

One address reaches the editors, for everything. Expect a reply within 24 hours.

Send a message

This goes straight to the editorial office. Everything marked with an asterisk is needed; the rest is what makes a useful reply possible on the first attempt.

Where the reply will go.

Leave this blank if your message is not about a particular paper. Filling it in is what lets a reply come back the same day.

We reply within 24 hours, and send you a copy of your reference straight away.

Email the editors

The same office, the same people, and the same reply time. Use this if you would rather keep your own copy of what you sent, or if you need to attach something. Please put the paper title, or the issue and page range, in the subject line: it is what lets a reply come back quickly.

What to include

  • Submitting a paper. Follow the submission instructions rather than writing first. Attach the manuscript and it enters the process immediately.
  • Asking about a submission in progress. Give the paper title and the date you sent it.
  • About a published paper. Give the issue, the page range and the article title, or just paste the PDF address.
  • Payments, receipts and invoices. Give the paper title and the date and method of payment. See publication charges.
  • Corrections and integrity concerns. See the publication ethics policy, which sets out what happens next and what evidence to supply.
  • Joining the review panel. Send your field, your current post and a link to your publication record. See the editorial board.
